First week of May

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week

A week focused on the mental health needs of children, including the high rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions in autistic youth. Early mental health support can make a significant difference in long-term outcomes.

History

Children's Mental Health Awareness Week is organized by Mental Health America and SAMHSA in the US, and by YoungMinds in the UK. It has been recognized annually since the early 2000s.

How to Participate

  • Know the signs of anxiety, depression, and OCD in autistic youth — they can present differently
  • Advocate for school mental health services that understand autism
