First week of December

Inclusive Schools Week

A week celebrating the progress schools have made in including students with disabilities and promoting the work that remains to be done. Truly inclusive education is a right, not a privilege.

History

Inclusive Schools Week was established by the Inclusive Schools Network in 2001. It highlights successful inclusive practices and encourages schools to reflect on barriers to full inclusion.

How to Participate

  • Learn about the difference between integration and true inclusion
  • Advocate for meaningful inclusion — not just physical presence in a general education classroom
  • Support schools that prioritize belonging alongside academic achievement
  • Learn about Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as an inclusion framework
