Last day of February
Rare Disease Day
A global awareness day for rare diseases. Some genetic conditions associated with autism — including Fragile X syndrome, Rett syndrome, Tuberous Sclerosis, and Angelman syndrome — are considered rare diseases with specific research and advocacy communities.
History
Rare Disease Day was established in Europe in 2008 by EURORDIS and now has over 100 country partners. The last day of February was chosen for its own rarity — most years it is February 28, but in leap years it is February 29.
How to Participate

- →Support research into rare conditions that cause autism
- →Connect with syndrome-specific communities if your child has a genetic diagnosis
- →Advocate for rare disease research funding
